The digital switchover

The UK's analogue telephone lines are being upgraded to digital connectivity. Our equipment meets industry requirements, ensuring no service disruption post the 2025 digital switchover.

What is the digital switchover?

In 2016, the telecommunications industry announced it would replace all analogue lines and upgrade to digital internet-based infrastructure by 2025. As the UK's telecoms infrastructure is upgraded to digital connectivity, analogue telephone services will be switched off. The new network will provide a future proof, more reliable and dependable broadband service that will support the UK for decades to come.

Will the switchover bring interruption to my Helpline service?

Helpline 24/7 has been working within the Technology Enabled Care industry to ensure that there is no disruption to your service, and the trusted service you have come to expect from Helpline 24/7 remains just that.

How does my Helpline equipment work?

Within your Helpline alarm unit is a sim card. When your unit activates it will dial up through digital connectivity to send a call through to our alarm centre. One of our operators will then answer your call.

Are any changes needed to my Helpline equipment?

For all new customers, the equipment our technician installs already meets the 2025 digital requirements. This means that our new customers will not need to do anything.

I am an existing Helpline customer, will my equipment continue to work?

All our existing customers will receive an upgrade to Helpline’s new digital equipment. Our installers have begun a rolling installation programme that is scheduled for completion by summer 2025.
